Sororities & Fraternities
Welcome to the birthplace of sororities.
Our Greek life is like no other.
- A king is crowed at the annual Xi Man Pageant, a fundraiser hosted by Alpha Xi Delta for Autism Speaks.
- Fraternity brothers at the annual Greek Week awards banquet.
- Brotherhood is a lifetime bond. Alumni and current ZBT brothers gathered around at the Order of Omega awards at Homecoming.
- The new crew is here. Pi Beta Phi, founded at Monmouth, pose for a photo during our sorority recruitment bid day.
- Bid day is one of the best days when students who participated in recruitment find out which sorority they’ll call home.
- The running of Wallace Hall is the big reveal of bid day. Kappa Kappa Gamma members welcome their new sisters.
- That new sister feeling. Our sorority sisters hug during recruitment during orientation week for new incoming students.
Monmouth is home to three sorority chapters and four fraternity chapters including the founding alpha chapters of two women’s fraternities, known as the Monmouth Duo. More than 25 percent of our students are involved in Greek life.
Way more than just for fun
Our Greek community is more than roommates and a fun place to live. Each Greek organization is its own type of learning laboratory where you’ll have the chance to lead, participate in government, and volunteer and fight for causes you believe in. You’ll learn skills that will help you in your career — such as how to run meetings, set and balance budgets, advertise and sell your organization, and establish relationships in the local community.
Hello, networking
Not only will you build community with your new sisters and brothers and alumni, but you’ll also have access to a national network each Greek organization is part of. That’s a whole lot of meaningful connections, creating countless opportunities, as you grow your career.
Hazing has no home here
Students often ask us about Greek life horror stories on other college campuses or if it’s like the movies. We totally get it, and we welcome those questions. At Monmouth we only allow the best and healthiest aspects of sorority and fraternity living.
We, and the state of Illinois, strictly forbid any type of hazing. Students who participate in Greek life are some of the best, brightest and most compassionate Scots on campus. You’ll always feel welcome and safe.
