Set up Multi-Factor Authentication

Download the Microsoft Authenticator app

• • If you’re on a smartphone, the link will direct you to the appropriate app store.
  • If you’re on another device, the link will take you to a webpage with QR codes for Android and Apple devices:
    
  • Open your smartphone’s camera and focus it on the appropriate QR code for your phone, as if you were taking a picture of it.
  • Tap the notification that appears on the phone’s screen to follow the link.
• Download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smartphone.

 

Add your Monmouth College Account to the App

• Back in your browser, choose Next:
  
• Choose Next  again:
  On your device, set up your Monmouth College account as a “work or school” account.
  
• Set up your account on your smartphone:
  • Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.
  • Tap the + .
    Choose the plus sign (+) to add your Monmouth College account in the Microsoft Authenticator app.
    
  • Choose Work or school account.
  • Choose Scan QR code.
• With the Microsoft Authenticator app  (not the built-in camera) on your smartphone, scan the personalized QR code on the screen:
  Scan the QR code with your Microsoft Authenticator app.
  
  • iPhone users may have to enable the camera in Settings in order to scan.
  • If you can’t use your phone camera, you’ll have to choose Can’t scan image? to manually enter the 9 digit code and the URL.
• Your account will be added automatically to the app.
• Choose Next.

 

Confirm the sign-in with your phone app

• The browser will send a notification to your Microsoft Authenticator app .
  Approve the sign-in notification on your Microsoft Authenticator app.
  
• Approve the sign-in on your phone to confirm:
  You've approved the test sign-in notification on your Microsoft authenticator app.  
  
• Choose Next.
• You should see this confirmation:
  You've successfully set up Microsoft Authenticator for your account!  
  
• Choose Done.
• You are now finished setting up multi-factor authentication. If you wish to add additional sign-in methods, repeat these steps using another method.

 

• Choose I want to set up a different method.
• From the menu, select Phone.
  Choose the sign-in method you'd like to use.

 

Add your phone number to your account

• Enter your full phone number:
  Enter your phone number for use as a sign-in method.  
  
• Choose Text me a code or Call me.
• Choose Next.

 

Confirm the sign-in with the code sent to your phone

• A code will be sent to your phone:
  Enter the code sent to your phone to verify the number.
• Enter the code and choose Next.
• You should receive a confirmation that you were successful:
  You've successfully set up your phone as a sign-in method for your account!
