Passport Program
A passport allows one to explore 197 countries and we want to offer that to our students. Our passport program offers students a reimbursement by the college for their booklet, photo and normal processing. This is valid for 10 years so you can enjoy it during and after college!
How to Apply
Pick up an application outside of the ACE, the Office of Global Engagement or download from the State Department Website.
What to Bring
- Printed application
*If you print your application, be sure it is one sided and vertical - Photocopy of photo identification (no digital copies are accepted)
- Proof of ID
- Photocopy of proof of citizenship (no digital copies are accepted)
Proof of Identity
Bring a proof of ID with a photo that readily identifies you.
- Present ID in person and a photocopy of the front and back
- Driver’s license (not temporary or learner’s permit)
- Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship
- State ID card
Proof of Citizenship
These can be original or certified, physical copy.
- U.S. birth certificate that meets the following requirements:
- Issued by the city, county, or state of birth
- Lists your full name, date of birth, and place of birth
- Lists your parent(s)’ full names
- Has the date filed with registrar’s office (must be within one year of birth)
- Has the registrar’s signature
- Has the seal of the issuing authority
- Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship
Passport Photo
Photos can be taken at your local Walgreens or CVS. The cost is about $16.99 and the process is about 15 mins.

Applying
Where to Go
If you’re in the Monmouth area, drop off your application at the Warren County Court House (100 West Broadway Monmouth, IL 61462) to the Circuit Court Clerk (located on the second floor) or in person at a passport acceptance facility if you have never applied for a passport before or if you haven’t received a passport over the age of 18. You can search here for your local passport acceptance facility.
Waiting Time
- Routine wait time: 6 to 9 weeks
- Expedited wait time: 3 to 5 weeks and costs an extra $60 (Monmouth College does not reimburse for expedited fees)
*Processing times begin the day they receive your application at a passport agency or center, not the day you mail your application or apply
Reimbursement
Monmouth College provides financial reimbursement in applying for a new passport which includes passport picture, application and normal processing fees. All receipts are required in order to receive reimbursement and must be dropped off at the Office of Global Engagement.
