Academic Support
College coursework is very challenging and much more demanding than high school. But Academic Support helps students develop the study skills and habits of success needed to tackle their Monmouth coursework.
Services We Provide:
- Academic Coaching: Academic coaches work one-on-one with students. They help them develop custom strategies that will help them succeed – such as time management, exam preparation and note-taking techniques. Contact our office to schedule a one-on-one meeting with a coach.
- Tutoring: Tutors support a student’s academic success while enhancing a student’s knowledge of the subject material. (Check out the tutoring schedule for a list of available tutors and drop-in hours.) Tutors may also be available to schedule one-on-one appointments outside of drop-in hours. Email tutors individually to set up an individual meeting.
- Supplemental Instruction: Supplemental instruction – known as SI – is a peer-led, academic assistance program offered in especially challenging courses. SI leaders are students who have taken the course and performed well, and because they’re familiar with the content and instruction, supplemental instruction is a step beyond traditional tutoring. SI leaders re-review course content, lectures and major themes, in addition to helping students with assignments.
- Study skills workshops.
- Individual consultations with professional staff to address academic concerns, such as time management, exam preparation and note-taking techniques.
