Academic Support
Academic Support helps students develop the study skills and habits of success needed to tackle their Monmouth coursework.
Services We Provide:
- Subject Tutoring: Tutors support a student’s academic success by assisting them to become independent learners at the college level. Check out the tutoring schedule for a list of available tutors and drop-in hours. Tutors may also be available to schedule one-on-one appointments outside of drop-in hours. Email tutors individually to set up an individual meeting.
- Supplemental Instruction: Supplemental instruction – known as SI – is a peer-led, academic assistance program offered in especially challenging courses. SI leaders are students who have taken the course and performed well, and because they’re familiar with the content and instruction, supplemental instruction is a step beyond traditional tutoring. SI leaders review course content, lectures and major themes, in addition to helping students with assignments. Currently courses with SI: CHEM 140, CHEM 220, CHEM 228, and BIO 150.
- Academic Coaching: Academic coaches work one-on-one with students. They help students develop custom strategies that will help them succeed – such as time management, exam preparation, and note-taking techniques. Contact our office to discuss arrangements for meeting with an academic coach.
- Workshops relating to study skills and time management can be arranged for various campus groups.
- Individual consultations with professional staff to address academic concerns, such as time management, exam preparation and note-taking techniques.
