One class at Monmouth you still think about today?

Chorale with Dr. Perry White. My fellow “Choralligators” were my family at Monmouth, and some of them still are 20 years later! It was during my time singing with Chorale that solidified my lifelong love for music. After graduation, I returned as an alumni to perform in Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?. Additionally, I sang with the Nova Singers for 3 years, performing in Peoria and throughout the Quad Cities, and recorded a few CDs with them. My current life still involves a lot of music. My husband plays multiple instruments, and we encourage our boys (currently 11 and 13) to express themselves musically as well. It’s not uncommon for our house windows to rattle with all the music in our home! My most recent accomplishment is joining alumni to sing a digital performance of A Flame of White and Crimson in honor of Monmouth’s 2020 graduates.

Coolest thing you’ve done in your career?

I currently work with teachers as a District Instructional Math Coach in the 6th largest school district in Illinois. In November 2019, I was a part of the planning and hosting for our first “Inspiring Excellence in Mathematics” Showcase. Registration was open to neighboring districts, with teacher and administration participation from 11 school districts across the state of Illinois. I delivered professional development titled “Gameification > Memorization: Learning Through Play” where participants explored how math fact fluency can be developed through playing games from Kindergarten through 8th grade. At the end of the day, we received outstanding feedback from the participants. As an educator, the only thing better than helping a student “get it”, is working with other educators to better their craft and increase their own toolbox for student success!

Favorite place to travel?

My favorite place to travel is to sunny California!! We have family that lives in San Diego and San Francisco and we LOVE visiting them! I enjoy going to different wineries and exploring the city with my family. The ocean and mountain scenery is gorgeous and brings my heart joy.
