Interfraternity Council

Description

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is made up of our four fraternities on campus: Alpha Tau Omega, Phi Delta Theta, Sigma Phi Epsilon, and Zeta Beta Tau. Its operations include providing fraternities with rules and guidelines, especially during formal recruitment, while also hosting events and promoting fraternity life.

Our IFC is a member of the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC), meaning our fraternity men have access to resources from some of the most talented professionals in the field of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

The purpose of IFC is to promote exemplary philanthropy and service, recognize and support high levels of academic achievement, provide educational programming to enhance the quality of our fraternities, and construct and manage agreements ensuring the good standing and high standard of the members and the chapters of out fraternity community.

While there are formal recruitment periods each semester with increased recruitment events, all member fraternities of the IFC are able to recruit year-round. This means that you can take your time to get to know each fraternity at your own pace and make a decision whenever it best suits you.

Spring 2024 Formal Recruitment Dates: Feb 1-9

Regarding academics, on average, our fraternity men obtain higher GPAs than their unaffiliated/independent counterparts. In the Fall 2023 semester, fraternity men had an average GPA of 3.09, compared to the unaffiliated/independent male average of 2.86. This is in part due to the study nights, academic programs, and accountability systems in place in all four fraternities. While many think being in a fraternity will hurt your GPA, there is much research to suggest otherwise.

The most popular fields of study among our current fraternity men are:

  • Business Administration
  • Political Science
  • History
  • Physics
  • Theatre
