John Iselin developed a passion for engineering while working in his father’s workshop and spending time on the family sailboat, a hobby John continues today.

A Dayton, Ohio, native, John helped found the College’s engineering program. John completed his bachelor of science and master of science degrees at the University of Dayton. John earned his doctorate from the Iowa State University in 1999, studying computational fluid dynamics, which uses computers to simulate fluid flow and heat transfer.

John began his professional career and at Bucknell (Pennsylvania) University, where he spent five years. He also worked at the Naval Research Lab in Washington, D.C., focusing on contaminant transport modeling. Before coming to Monmouth, John taught for a decade at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
