Biography
I’m the main writer for news releases and feature stories, and many of my articles also appear in our alumni magazine. I also put together the weekly Faculty-Staff Pipeline. For 13 seasons, I coached the Fighting Scots women’s soccer team, and I now help coach the local high school boys team. A long time ago, I was the editor of Monmouth’s daily newspaper, and I’ve recently gotten back to writing some local sports stories. I love being active, whether it’s tennis, running, noon basketball or my newest sport, pickleball. This is helpful, since I also enjoy finding new spots to eat in the Midwest. My wife, Vicki, and I live a few blocks south of campus. We have two adult children who live in Bloomington-Normal and in Kansas City, two cats and our Aussiedor, Addie.
Monmouth College & You
Monmouth College has been a major part of my life. I grew up on campus, right across the street from Gibson Hall, in an area now occupied by Mellinger Commons in the wonderful Center for Science and Business. My dad, Jeremy McNamara, was an English professor at Monmouth for 32 years, and my son, Sean McNamara, graduated from Monmouth in 2012. He studied accounting and was an all-conference golfer for the Fighting Scots.
