One class at Monmouth you still think about today?
All of my classes I took through the Education Department were really memorable. The connections I made with Professor Vivian, Professor Hayes, Professor Grimm, and Professor Sargent, were the highlight of my educational experiences at Monmouth College. However, the most memorable class I took was with Professor Hayes on the second floor of Wallace Hall (Northeast Corner) my second semester of my freshman year, because that’s where I met my wife, Breanna.
Advice for the senior class?
I think it’s important for seniors to understand the power of relationships and connections once you’re in the business world. No matter the profession, having strong relationships and connections can give you the upper hand when it comes to landing that first job or earning a promotion. I don’t want to discredit the importance of having a high GPA; however, I would argue that having strong people skills is essential to finding success in your field.
Coolest thing you’ve done in your career?
Hands down, being a principal has been the “coolest” thing that I’ve done in my career. I love being a principal because of the personal connections I make on a daily basis with students and faculty members. My passion is program development and I’ve been able to collaborate with my colleagues to implement an instructional coaching program within our district as well as a junior high fishing club at our school.
