Monmouth to celebrate Christmas season with concert, convocation
Monmouth College will host a pair of traditional holiday events in the Dahl Chapel and Auditorium in December.
On Dec. 3, the College will host its annual “Christmas at Monmouth” program at 7:30 p.m. Although admission is free, organizers suggest a $5 donation for non-students.
Ensembles performing will be the Monmouth Chorale, directed by Ben Luedcke; the Concert Choir, directed by Dane Feenstra; the Monmouth Wind Ensemble, directed by David Wetmore; the Monmouth Chamber Orchestra, directed by Carolyn Suda; and the College’s two a cappella groups, The Sassie Lassies and The Scotsmen.
Music will include seasonal selections of all kinds, from classical to traditional to contemporary. In addition, there will be audience sing-along carols and readings by students and faculty members.
On Dec. 6, the College will present its annual Christmas Convocation at 11 a.m. in Dahl Chapel. Free and open to the public, the traditional candlelight and communion Christmas service will feature music by the Monmouth College Chorale and a sermon by the Rev. Dr. Teri M. Ott, College chaplain.
