Dean Condon to Retire
Retiring at the end of the year after 37 years of service

Longtime Monmouth College administrator Jacquelyn Condon will retire at the end of the 2016-17 school year.
Condon, who has served the nationally ranked liberal arts college since 1980, has been the College’s Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students since 1994.
Associate Dean of Students Mohsin Masood will serve as interim Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students.
“I am grateful to have had the opportunity to spend my career at this wonderful college,” Condon said. “The relationships I have built with so many outstanding students, faculty and staff colleagues have been a gift to me.”
Condon was the first woman to serve as the College’s chief student affairs officer, and she will be the longest-serving administrator in the 163-year history of the college. Condon – who has served five of the College’s 14 presidents – has been a member of senior leadership teams that more than doubled Monmouth’s enrollment, dramatically grew the College’s financial resources and significantly improved students’ out-of-classroom experiences.
“For 36 years, Dean Jacquelyn Condon has provided wise counsel to five Monmouth College presidents, and loving care and clear direction to thousands of Monmouth students – all seasoned with a great sense of humor,” said Monmouth President Dr. Clarence R. Wyatt. “Working with Jackie has been a rich blessing for me. As the history of the College continues to be written, Jackie’s character and intelligence will shine through. On behalf of the entire Monmouth College family, Lobie and I wish Jackie and (husband) Neal much happiness as they enjoy retirement together.”
Wyatt said the College’s student life program will receive good leadership from Masood during the interim period.
“We are fortunate that Dean Masood has agreed to serve as interim Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students,” Wyatt said. “Dean Masood has ably served the College in senior positions in student life for 22 years, and the position will be in good hands as the College, in due time, conducts a national search for a permanent successor to Dean Condon.”
Monmouth’s student life program includes residence life and housing, athletics, student success, career development, student activities, religious and spiritual life, campus events, camps and conferences, fraternity and sorority affairs, service, safety and security, crisis management, leadership development, student organizations and involvement, judicial affairs, counseling services, student government, international student services, multicultural student services, student publications and new student orientation.
Raised in the Chicago area, Condon’s attraction to student development followed her experience as an undergraduate at Millikin (Ill.) University, her work with college students as a leadership consultant, and her study of higher education administration and counseling as a graduate student. Before her current position at Monmouth, Condon was the College’s associate dean and assistant dean of students.
“I have worked at one of the best places in higher education,” Condon said. “I have enjoyed the support and faith of wonderful trustees and presidents; I am thankful to have worked with an incredibly talented student affairs staff; and, most important, I have lived a full, rich and blessed life because of the students and alumni I have known. It is truly great to be a Scot!”
