Choral concert
Chamber Choir, Concert Choir to perform April 28 in Dahl Chapel
Monmouth College’s Chamber Choir and Concert Choir will present their spring concert on April 28.
Free and open to the public, the performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Kasch Performance Hall of Dahl Chapel and Auditorium.
Under the direction of Tim Pahel, the Chamber Choir will present two selections with contributions from other Monmouth students. Iman Abdulrazzak ’18 of Gazientep, Turkey, will accompany Eric Whitacre’s “Five Hebrew Love Songs” with a violin solo.
An arrangement of “Loch Lomond” by Jonathan Quick will feature all of the Monmouth Chorale’s senior performers. Those 18 seniors will also perform “Loch Lomond” at the Senior Gala Dinner on May 13.
The Chamber Choir will also present a variety of pieces from the Renaissance to more recently composed works. Composers include Thomas Weelkes, Josquin des Prez, Pinto Fonseca and Hugo Distler.
The accompanist for Chamber Choir is Lenna Burnett.
The Concert Choir is directed by Dane Feenstra ’11, with Paul Rich as accompanist. It will perform “Sing We Alleluia” by Jay Althouse and “The Cuckoo,” arranged by Gregg Smith with melody and text collected by John Jacob Niles. The choir will also perform “Gelobet seist du, Jesu Christ” by Johann Hermann Schein and “Praise the Lord” from Judas Maccabeus by G.F. Handel, arranged by Hal H. Hopson.
