Monmouth to Close 7 p.m. Jan. 29
MONMOUTH, Ill. – All Monmouth College classes, campus events and activities are canceled from 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, through Wednesday, Jan. 30. Campus buildings will close at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29. Campus buildings will open at their normal hours on Wednesday, Jan. 30, but they will close at 7 p.m.
The campus is being closed because of sub-zero temperatures forecast for the region.
“Understanding that ours is a residential campus with students present, administrative offices will be open and staffed to the degree possible on Wednesday,” said Monmouth President Clarence R. Wyatt. “However, given the extreme weather conditions, staff members should exercise good judgement in deciding if travel to campus is appropriate.”
Staff members should consult with their supervisors to determine staffing needs, said Wyatt.
With only certain exceptions, student workers should not report to work. For staff who report to work on Wednesday, Jan. 30, meals will be available at the College’s dining hall at no charge.
Wyatt said that officials plan for the College to be back in normal operation and normal schedules on Thursday, Jan. 31.
“We will continue to monitor conditions, and information regarding Thursday will be issued no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday,” Wyatt said.
