A Wind Sampler
Monmouth College’s Symphonic Concert Band, Chamber Winds to perform Nov. 19.
MONMOUTH, Ill. – Monmouth College’s Symphonic Concert Band and Chamber Winds will present their fall concert at 3 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Kasch Performance Hall of Dahl Chapel and Auditorium.
Throughout the semester, the musicians have been selling raffle tickets to community members for a chance to serve as a guest conductor.
“We will feature the winner at this concert,” said Swearinger. “They will conduct John Philip Sousa’s ‘The Thunderer.’”
The concert will conclude with Gustav Holst’s “First Suite in E-flat,” which Swearinger said “is one of the most important and foundational compositions ever written for a wind band.”
