MONMOUTH, Ill. – Two Monmouth College spring sports athletes have been named All-Americans.

After putting together outstanding senior seasons for the Fighting Scots, Becca Dabrowski of McHenry, Ill., was named a second team All-American by the Association of College Water Polo Coaches and Alex Sheetz of Monmouth was an honorable mention selection on D3baseball.com’s All-American squad.

Monmouth’s all-time scoring leader, Dabrowski became the program’s second All-American, joining Cassidy O’Connell from 2016. In addition to the career scoring mark of 262 goals, Dabrowski holds the program records for goals in season (111) and game (11), setting both marks this season. Her career goal output shattered the previous record held by O’Connell by more than 100 goals as she became the Scots’ first water polo player – woman or man – to eclipse the 100-goal season and 200-goal career plateaus.

Voted the 2019 Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Most Valuable Player by the league’s coaches in April, Dabrowski pumped in 27 goals in three games at the conference season-ending tournament, guiding the Scots to a third-place finish – their highest in program history. She finished the season averaging more than six goals per game while posting a team-high 54 steals and dishing out 17 assists. Her 3.74 goals per game average ranks her second all-time.

Sheetz was one of five pitchers selected to the honorable mention All-American team and the only relief pitcher on the squad. Converted to a side-armer, Sheetz had earlier claimed All-Central Region honors from D3baseball.com and was voted All-Midwest Conference, claiming his first postseason honors of any kind as his senior season came to a close.

Monmouth’s closer posted a program-best 3-1 record while coming out of the bullpen 18 times this season – the second-most appearances on the team. A right-hander, Sheetz held the opposition to a miniscule .128 average while fanning 25 in 21-1/3 innings and posting a 0.84 ERA with a 0.52 WHIP – both team-bests. He recorded six of the bullpen’s eight saves.
