‘A Fall Cornucopia’ of Music
MONMOUTH, Ill. – Scheduled just one day before Halloween, the annual fall concert for Monmouth College’s Wind Ensemble will indeed touch on the spooky holiday as part of its overall theme of “A Fall Cornucopia.”
“Spanning the setting sun to rebellious disco beats, campy horror and back around to illumination of the world, the concert is sure to have a little something for everyone,” said Swearinger, who noted that community member Jeff Davis will be featured on the Leroy Anderson classic “A Trumpeter’s Lullaby.”
The Wind Ensemble is made up of 35 students, including music majors, music minors and almost every major the College has to offer.
Swearinger earned a bachelor’s degree in percussion performance from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, a master of music in wind conducting from Florida International University, and a doctor of musical arts in wind conducting from The University of Southern Mississippi. Before joining Monmouth’s faculty, he served as a graduate assistant for the Southern Miss bands program.
