Exploring Greek, Discovering Monmouth
MONMOUTH, Ill. – Monmouth College spoke to Bailey Evans when she heard Greek in one of the College’s virtual programs. The Speedway High School senior participated last summer in a special virtual mini-class about the Greek language.
Evans will have an opportunity to pursue both of those subjects, and more, at Monmouth, as she has been named one of the College’s four Trustees’ Scholars in the Monmouth Class of 2025. Trustees Scholars receive a full four-year tuition scholarship, worth more than $160,000, to the national liberal arts college.
Evans was selected from among 165 high school seniors from 15 states who interviewed for the College’s top scholarships this year.
Evans plans to major in English to prepare for law school.
At Speedway, Evans has earned several academic awards and honors, and she has been involved with many clubs, organizations and teams, including: Key Club, serving as its secretary; Environmental Club; Multicultural and Spanish Club; National Honors Society representative; student media; and the swimming and tennis teams. She’s also worked at the Speedway Public Library for more than 2-1/2 years.
Evans said she “fell in love with the tight-knit community aspect” of Monmouth.
“I really loved seeing how close-knit the community is,” she said. “I like the homey and family feel of the campus.”
