Cultural Festival
Mariachi band, African drummers part of the fun on Sept. 19
The cultures of more than 30 countries will be celebrated Sept. 19, as Monmouth College hosts its 21st Annual Cultural Festival. Featuring free international food, entertainment and exhibits from countries around the world represented by Monmouth’s international students and study-abroad participants, the festival will be held from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the college’s Quad. Entertainment will be provided by two Chicago-based groups – the band Mariachi Sol de Oro and Kruccus International, a group of African drummers. Monmouth College’s Colorful Voices of Praise singers and praise dancers will also perform. “The Cultural Festival is an opportunity for the campus community and local residents to enjoy good food and entertainment and to learn about various countries represented on campus, and our multicultural student groups and organizations,” said Erika Buckley, assistant director of intercultural life. In the event of rain, the festival will be moved indoors to the nearby Stockdale Center.
