Monmouth College to host Family Weekend, Sept. 25-27
Festivities planned for “All Hands on Deck” theme.
Monmouth College will host its annual Family Weekend Sept. 25-27. With a theme this year of “All Hands on Deck,” Family Weekend is designed to help students share and enjoy the Monmouth experience with their families. The weekend’s festivities will begin with an interactive comedic performance by rePercussion on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. in Dahl Chapel. Also that day, the volleyball team will host Beloit College at 7 p.m. in Glennie Gymnasium. The Fighting Scots will also square off in the gym against Lake Forest College on Saturday at 1 p.m. Saturday’s activities begin with a 5K run/walk at 8 a.m., starting with check-in at 7:15 a.m. at the Huff Athletic Center. Participants may run, jog or walk the course, which begins and ends at the athletic center’s south entrance. A “legacy” brunch will be held at 10 a.m. in Mellinger Commons in the Center for Science and Business. Open to students and their alumni relatives, the event celebrates Monmouth’s long-standing family traditions. Also starting at 10 a.m., “inflatable” activities for all ages will be available in The Quad, behind Stockdale Center, until 2 p.m. An all-campus cookout will be held in The Quad at 11:30 a.m. The Fighting Scots will kick off their second home football game of the season at 1 p.m. against Carroll University at April Zorn Memorial Stadium. The men’s and women’s soccer teams will also be in action, hosting Beloit College at Peacock Memorial Athletic Park, beginning with the women’s game at 1 p.m. At 7 p.m. in Dahl Chapel, three music ensembles will present the annual Family Weekend Concert, which is free and open to the public. Performing will be the Monmouth Chamber Orchestra, the Monmouth Chorale and the Monmouth Winds. At 9 p.m. in Dahl Chapel, students and their families will be treated to a performance by the Norman Magic Experience. Reservations and a ticket are required for admission. A buffet brunch on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Main Dining Room in Stockdale Center will conclude the weekend’s activities.
