Monmouth’s 2015-16 Maple Leaf Community Concert Series will begin on Oct. 22 with a performance by jazz vocalist Jaimee Paul at 7 p.m. in the Kasch Performance Hall of Monmouth College’s Dahl Chapel and Auditorium.
Raised in Southern Illinois and steeped in the church choir, Paul was influenced by gospel and blues, cultivating a special place in her heart for jazz. She left her hometown for Nashville to study music at the acclaimed Belmont University. After graduation, Paul began working part-time as a studio session singer. Not long after, studio work began to take over her schedule and she began performing her own shows and expanding her solo career. Soon, she began touring as background vocalist with country superstar Wynonna. Wrote one reviewer, “Paul is blessed with a glorious voice, one that deserves to travel under its own powerful steam.” Season tickets are $65 for adults, and single-performance tickets are $30 at the door. Students are admitted free. More information about tickets is available by calling the Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce at 309-734-3181. The Maple Leaf Community Concert Series has presented internationally-acclaimed talent to the Monmouth community since 1992. An all-volunteer nonprofit organization, the MLCCS is committed to enriching the cultural life of the community through live performances. Through the generosity of annual individual and business donations, and the support of Monmouth College, the concerts are offered at affordable, family-friendly prices.
