A literary evening
Award-winning author Wright to visit campus Feb. 22-23
Award-winning author Vinita Hampton Wright will visit Monmouth College’s campus Feb. 22-23, sponsored by the college’s English department and its Lux Center for Church and Religious Leadership.
Included in her visit will be “A Literary Evening with Vinita Hampton Wright” on Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Morgan Room in Poling Hall. The event is free and open to the public. The author of “The Art of Spiritual Writing,” Wright will present a workshop on that topic on Feb. 23, titled “The Soul Tells a Story.” The day before, she will speak at the college’s weekly chapel service at 12:10 p.m. in Dahl Chapel. Wright has been a book editor for 23 years, currently serving as senior editor at Loyola Press in Chicago. She leads workshops around the country on the creative-spiritual process. Of her three full-length novels, “Velma Still Cooks in Leeway” won a Logos Book-of-the-Year award, and “Dwelling Places” was selected by Christianity Today as Best Fiction of 2007. She has also written seven non-fiction books.
