VITA program continues
Popular tax preparation program continues through April 13
Monmouth College is offering computerized tax preparation and e-filing (federal and Illinois state) at no cost to the taxpayer through April 13 through a partnership with the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
Sessions are held 4 – 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 12 noon and 1 – 4 p.m. Sessions will not be offered March 5 – 12 or March 26 – 28, due to spring and Easter break.
All sessions are held at the handicapped-accessible Center for Science and Business, 720 E. Broadway. Taxpayers should use the south entrance and follow signs inside the building to the registration area.
All ages of taxpayers, from students through retirees, are served through VITA. Taxpayers are strongly encouraged to e-file, as they can expect quicker response to their filings, and the IRS can reduce its processing costs.
More information, including what to bring to a VITA session in addition to photo identification and Social Security cards, is available at the VITA website. Other information can be requested by emailing vita@monmouthcollege.edu.
