Bailey Camenisch joins Monmouth’s admissions team
New admission counselor Bailey Camenisch
Bailey Camenisch is the most recent addition to the Monmouth College admission team. The 2016 Wartburg (Iowa) College graduate began her admission counselor duties in July, and she should have an easy time relating to prospective students.
“At Wartburg, I was a tour guide for two years,” she said. “At first, I just did it to get more involved on campus, but I really enjoy helping people. I talked to one of my advisers and learned more about her work in student affairs and how she got to where she was. I decided I wanted to take helping families with the admission process to the next level.”
Camenisch will work with prospective students from seven Illinois counties, including Peoria, LaSalle and Grundy. She said her message to them will be heavily influenced by her own college experience.
“I liked the smaller class sizes and getting to know my professors,” she said. “They know your name, know what you want to do in life and know what activities you’re involved in on campus. I didn’t want to be a number at some big school. I also appreciated that I was able to be involved in more than one activity outside the classroom.”
At Wartburg, Camenisch was a cheerleader for four years and was involved with the college’s chapter of Sparkles, which teaches cheerleading to area youth with intellectual disabilities.
Camenisch also served as a mentor to freshmen and helped organize a dance marathon sponsored by the Children’s Miracle Network that raised $50,000 annually for the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.
The business administration major from Boone, Iowa, originally thought about entering graduate school after completing her Wartburg degree, but she’s pleased to be working at Monmouth in the profession that she hopes becomes a long-term career.
“I’m planning to stay in higher education, and see where that takes me,” she said.
