Distinguished Alumnus Award

Recognizing the exceptional achievements of our alumni.

Dr. Wendell Shauman ’67

Dr. Wendell Shauman ’67 is a farmer’s farmer. Not only does he maintain an 1,100-acre corn and soybean farm near Monmouth, he also has been in more leadership roles than there are kernels on an ear of corn.

Dr. Shauman is chair of the U.S. Grains Council, has served on the United States Department of Agriculture Plant Variety Protection Board, the National Corn Growers Association Research Committee, the Illinois Farm Bureau Board, the Illinois Soybean Board, the Warren County Farm Bureau Board, and the Illinois Corn Marketing Board. Aside from these, he is a 2015 Eagle Award recipient, and close to home he serves as a leader to the class of 1967 and Sigma Phi Epsilon.
