Labs and equipment

The Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry departments have well-equipped laboratory facilities housed with other departments in our Center for Science and Business. The center also includes a math lab, a cell and genetics lab, a molecular lab, and a human anatomy lab with a cadaver.

National resources and graduate school guidance

The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy provides excellent resources for students interested in pursuing pharmacy graduate programs. Search a national database of pharmacy schools, get additional information about the application process and explore pharmacy career paths

Introduction to Health Careers class

In addition to a variety of science courses and majors, we offer an “Introduction to Health Careers” class (BIOL 207) for students interested in exploring medicine or other health professions.

The class informs students about career choices in the health professions and to review expectations and requirements for successful applicants to professional school. The class features guest speakers and hands-on activities such as suturing and blood pressure checks.

Doc Kieft Chemistry Summer Research Program

The Richard “Doc” Kieft endowment, set up by a former Monmouth chemistry professor, provides funding for up to a dozen Chemistry or Biochemistry students research assistants each summer. Students apply for the Doc Kieft Scholarship as part of their admissions process. The funding also supports travel expenses that allows up to 16 students per year to attend and present their work at the the American Chemical Society’s national meeting.
