Fox Writing Contest Winners and Honorable Mentions
2023 FOX WRITING CONTEST AT MONMOUTH COLLEGE
The Department of Classics at Monmouth College, Monmouth, Illinois, is proud to announce the winners of the thirty-sixth annual Bernice L. Fox Classics Writing Contest. The topic of this year’s contest, open to all high school students, was “What Makes Them Different Makes Them Great.”
The winner of the $250 cash award is Emerson Kang, a student at the Dwight-Englewood School in Englewood, NJ; his work was titled “Torch of Equality.”
Honorable mentions (listed randomly) were awarded to the following students:
Lilia Vine (Greenwich High School, Greenwich, CT), taught by Daniel Palheiredo;
Gigi Vangura (North Catholic High School, Cranberry Township, PA), taught by Patricia Hay;
James Van Der Jagt, Max Mascolino, and Brandon Nicholson (all of Memphis University School, Memphis, TN), all taught by Ryan Sellers;
Olinmazatemictli (Maza) Reyes (Arizona School for the Arts, Phoenix, AZ), taught by Teresa Layden;
Sadie Billikopf (Cosby High School, Midlothian, VA), taught by Donna Dollings.
