Off-Campus programs

Washington Semester Program

Business administration majors participate in the Associated Colleges of the Midwest Washington Semester Program, where they take classes at American University and complete an internship experience in Washington, D.C. The prime location offers a huge variety of internship opportunities — students have interned with the federal government, Washington think tanks, trade organizations, congressional members and committees, museums and media organizations.

Study or travel abroad

We offer exchange agreements with business programs in Scotland and Japan for students interested in spending a full semester abroad. We also offer short-term trips during two-weeks Scots Terms in January and May. We’ll even help you secure and pay for your passport

Internships and professional advice

Many of our business majors participate in internships, both locally during the semester and off-campus during the summer. Our students have interned for a diversity of businesses, organizations, teams and firms. Our faculty plus the Wackerle Center for Career, Leaderships & Fellowships work with students individually to help them explore internship options that align with their interests and career goals.

Recent companies include: StateFarm, John Deere, Morningstar, Consolidated Grain and Barge, Co., and Hon.

We also bring alumni and other guest speakers to campus, including through our popular “Midwest Entrepreneurs” class. Student can hear stories and advice from entrepreneurs and business owners.
