Wonderland Camp: a residential summer camp for individuals with disabilities
Illinois Neurological Institute: in the sleep disorders unit
Easter Seals: providing services for individuals with disabilities and their families
Lurie Children’s Hospital: working with nurses
Warren County YMCA: on programming and teaching fitness courses
Rainbow Riders: a therapeutic horseback riding center, a few miles from campus, for those with disabilities
Departmental scholarship and award opportunities
Nelson-Weck Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2020 by psychology alumnae Christie Nelson ’06 and Amanda Weck ’06. This scholarship is for full-time psychology or biopsychology majors with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Biopsychology Senior Award
This recognition goes to an outstanding senior in the program as determined by the faculty in the psychology and biology departments.
Psi Chi Award
This recognition goes to a student in the department who demonstrates excellence in research as determined by the psychology department faculty.
TriBeta Prize
This recognition goes to a student in the department who demonstrates excellence in research as determined by the biology department faculty.
Research conference ppportunities
MidBrains Midwest Regional Neuroscience Conference:
This regional undergraduate research conference provides students the opportunity to present their research, attend research lectures and informational panels and network with other undergraduate students. Representatives from research universities are there to discuss graduate program opportunities.
Midwestern Psychological Association Conference
This regional conference is open to professional psychologists as well as graduate and undergraduate students. The meeting has professionals in the field, discussion groups, informational sessions for students and social events for networking.
ILLOWA Undergraduate Research Conference
This regional undergraduate research conference provides students the opportunity to present their empirical research to attending peers and faculty in 15-minute oral presentations.
Tri-State Undergraduate Research Conference
This regional undergraduate research conference provides students the opportunity to learn about other student’s research in the field. Students are also encouraged to present their own empirical research in the poster format to attending peers and faculty.
