Q. I was just curious. So, the new house will be for sorority members, but later be switched so that ZBT will live there? If that's the case, then where will that sorority live?
A. That's a fair question. The simple answer is that it has not yet been decided, but a decision could be made by the time the sorority moves in, as part of the master plan that will be developed over the summer. Where the sorority will locate will depend on a number of factors--among them, whether its alumnae are interested in raising the funds necessary to make construction of a new house viable.
The reason that the first house is being offered to the ZBTs is that the property on which it is being built has strong sentimental attachment to the fraternity, which currently has a memorial park there, on the site of its former fraternity house. It is the only college property currently available that is large enough and properly zoned to allow for immediate construction, which is essential to having the building available by fall. We have also had a buy-in by the ZBT alumni to begin a fundraising campaign for the house.
