It is surprising that Raven Robinson has only been a student at Monmouth for a year and half judging by the sophomore’s impressive list of accomplishments. The current president of UMOJA, a new organization on campus that promotes unity and African-American culture, is just one of her major activities. Raven is also currently a Resident Assistant, a member of the Track and Field team, an Academic Coach, and a member of the President’s Student Advisory Council.
How does one person accomplish so much in so little time? Raven credits Monmouth’s small size and community atmosphere. “The community of Monmouth is just something you could not find at a bigger university or community college. That happy medium is what you get here.” Raven also notes that many of the opportunities she has had would not have been possible if not for the supportive faculty and staff of Monmouth College. “Kathy Wagoner is a perfect example of that support.” For instance, Raven had not even considered being an RA until Kathy encouraged her to apply. The combination of supportive faculty and Raven’s drive to succeed is sure to make her an unstoppable Scot!
