The Office of Residence Life employs over fifty Resident Assistants and Head Residents each year. Seven Fraternity and Sorority Life House Managers are also employed by the office. Working in Residence Life is an excellent way to gain leadership skills and add to your resume. You will also have the satisfaction of knowing that you are making a difference in the lives of others.
There are three types of student positions in Residence Life:
Head Residents are responsible for the total operation of the hall. Their responsibilities include supervising the resident assistants in hall, advising hall council, and handling referrals and less serious discipline cases.
Resident Assistants are responsible for creating an environment on their floors that are both fun and educational. Each RA is responsible for developing social and educational programs, providing counsel to students in times of need, and directing residents to appropriate campus resources. RA’s are required to be available for duty and to attend certain events throughout the academic year.
Working closely with the chapter presidents, House Managers supervise all fraternity facilities on campus. They assure good communication between chapters and the college, provide important resources to residents, and help their organizations maintain their facilities in top condition. They are essential members of the Residence Life team and Fraternity and Sorority Life community.
