Paintings by Mahoney on display in Everett Gallery

Recent paintings by artist Michael Mahoney are currently on display in Monmouth College’s Len G. Everett Gallery.
Mahoney will speak about the exhibit, which includes several still lifes and portraits, as part of a reception in the gallery at 3 p.m. on Jan. 17. The reception, talk and exhibit are all free and open to the public.
A native of Detroit, Mahoney received an MFA degree in painting from Wayne State University in 1978. Later that year, he travelled to Italy to continue his studies. He began teaching art courses in the Detroit area in 1979 and continued to teach as an adjunct instructor for 15 years at a number of schools .
Now a resident of Macomb, Mahoney taught painting courses at Western Illinois University from 1994 to 2005, when he left to apply his time to studio work.
Located on the second floor of Hewes Library, the Everett Gallery is open during regular library hours: Mondays through Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. to midnight; Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays, noon to midnight.
