‘An Evening of Song’
MONMOUTH, Ill. – To help pave their way for next month’s trip to New York City’s Carnegie Hall, several members of the Monmouth College Chorale will be featured at a special concert.
Titled “An Evening of Song,” the event will feature more than a dozen students, along with a few faculty and Chorale alumni. They will take the stage at 8 p.m. April 13 in the Kasch Performance Hall of Dahl Chapel and Auditorium.
The concert is free and open to the public, but free-will donations are appreciated to help support the Chorale’s upcoming trip to New York City and May 19 performance in Carnegie Hall.
“It’s going to be a great concert,” said Associate Professor of Music Tim Pahel. “The students and I have been working on the music all semester, and there are going to be some fantastic performances. It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase the talents of our students and let them shine in ways that they can’t when the whole Chorale is performing.”
The program will include about 20 songs, most of which are from musicals, such as Chicago, Wicked, The Sound of Music, Phantom of the Opera, Chorus Line, Moulin Rouge and Les Miserables, but with operas represented as well. The format will include solos and duets, as well as larger ensembles.
Student performers include: Thomas Burkhead, Amelia Chavez, Luis Flores, Sebastian Hernandez, Lydia Hill, Jamiya Johnson, Emily Malecha, Rebecca Mills, Sarah Mills, Rachel Purcell, Holly Reyner, Katie Richter and Thomas Van Alstine
The faculty and alumni who will perform are Doug Alderman, Tom Clark, Zach Erwin and Dane Feenstra.
