Flute recital
Music faculty member Madeline Wood featured at Feb. 22 event
Monmouth College music lecturer Madeline Wood will present a flute recital at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 22 in the Kasch Performance Hall of Dahl Chapel and Auditorium.
The recital, which is free and open to the public, will also feature pianist Casey Dierlamn and Kyle Barshinger on the vibraphone.
The program will feature works for flute and piano by Bach, Debussy and Burton, as well as a piece by Clarke for vibraphone and flute.
Wood holds bachelor’s degrees in flute performance and music education from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University and a master’s degree in music education from Northern State University in South Dakota. Her primary flute teacher is Donald Peck, principal emeritus of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Wood has won top awards with the Union League Civic and Arts Foundation, the North Shore Musicians Club, and the Chicago Musicians Club of Women. She has performed with the Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra, the North Shore Chamber Orchestra, the Elgin Symphony Orchestra and the Knox-Galesburg Symphony.
In 2014, Wood received the Illinois Elementary Schools Association’s Class Act Music Award.
In addition to teaching woodwind lessons at the College, Wood teaches band at United Junior High and High School.
