Two music events will be held on Feb. 27 in the Kasch Performance Hall of Monmouth College’s Dahl Chapel and Auditorium. Both events are free and open to the public.

Under the direction of Steve Richter, the Monmouth Winds will present their annual winter concert at 2 p.m. During “Latin Fantasy” by Chuck Elledge, flutist Carleigh Shannon, a senior from Batavia, will be featured. Other selections include music from “West Side Story,” as well as “Trumpets and Bridges” by Thomas Doss, “Salvation is Created” by Tchesnekoff and “Elegy” by John Barnes Chance.

At 6 p.m., the Western Illinois University Gospel Choir and Monmouth College’s Colorful Voices of Praise will join forces for a Gospel Music Extravaganza. The event, which is part of the college’s observance of Black History Month, is sponsored by the Coalition for Ethnic Awareness and its Office of Intercultural Life.
