Oil paintings by Mahoney open series of MC art exhibits

An exhibit of oil paintings by Western Illinois University art professor Julie Mahoney is on display through Sept. 21 in Monmouth College’s Everett Gallery.
A reception and a talk are scheduled for Aug. 31 in the gallery. The reception will begin at 3 p.m., with the artist set to discuss her exhibit at 3:15 p.m.
Mahoney came to WIU in 1995 after earning an MFA from Wayne State University and a bachelor’s degree from the Center For Creative Studies in her native Detroit, Mich. She teaches watercolor and life drawing at WIU.
Located in Hewes Library, the gallery is open Mondays through Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. – midnight; Fridays, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sundays, noon – midnight.
