MC alumnus to discuss L-Bird plans at Associates

John Kriegsman, a 1962 graduate of Monmouth College, will be the featured speaker at the monthly meeting of Monmouth Associates on April 18 at 12 noon in the Whiteman-McMillan Highlander Room of Stockdale Center.
Kriegsman, who came to Monmouth College in 1958 from Pekin, will discuss the L-Bird airplane that his father flew during World War II. L-Birds weighed less than 1,000 pounds and were completely unarmed, yet the spotter planes were credited with doing more damage and creating more chaos than any other aircraft used during the war.
After graduating from Monmouth with a business major, Kriegsman returned to the Pekin area, working with two family businesses – Kriegsman Moving International and Polar Supply Corporation.
The program is free; a buffet lunch costs $10. Reservations can be made by calling 309-457-2316 by April 15 or by emailing
A free shuttle van transports passengers from two locations to every Associates luncheon. The van will stop at the Faith United Presbyterian Church parking lot at 11:45 a.m. and at the northeast quadrant of the Public Square at approximately 11:50 a.m. It will return to both locations immediately following the program. Shuttle reservations should be made by calling the above number.
