With a new academic year right around the corner, Monmouth College has named three individuals with ties to the school to help recruit its Class of 2017.

Two members of Monmouth’s 2012 graduating class, Gavin Halpin and Gabrielle Schaerli, recently began positions as admissions representatives, as did Kara Cozadd, who has worked in the admissions office for the past five years. The trio joins a staff under the supervision of new director of admissions Phil Betz that includes six other reps, four of whom are MC graduates.

Halpin came to Monmouth from Pittsfield High School and distinguished himself as an involved student. The communication studies and public relations double major was a member of several musical groups, was a Scot Ambassador and was active with the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

A product of Warren Township High School, Schaerli graduated cum laude, also majoring in communication studies and public relations. She received departmental honors in the latter discipline. In 2009, she was named MC’s Freshman Woman of the Year. An officer with her women’s fraternity, Pi Beta Phi, Schaerli also interned as a student with the admissions office.

Cozadd is a 1996 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, where she majored in business administration. Since 2007, she has worked in the department as an office coordinator and administrative assistant.

“The new staff is an energetic group, bringing diverse skills and backgrounds to the admissions office,” said Betz. “They are passionate about Monmouth College and eager to share their passion with future Scots.”
