Philip Betz has started a new position in Monmouth College’s office of enrollment management.
Betz will serve as director of admissions, reporting to Omar Correa, vice president for enrollment management.
For the past seven years, Betz had two terms of employment at his alma mater, Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Wash., serving for the past 10 months as associate director of admission. He was part of a team that recruited three of the four largest classes in PLU’s history.
“The addition of Phil to our enrollment management team continues Monmouth College’s emphasis on hiring individuals from strong institutions and from programs that have been successful,” said MC president Mauri Ditzler.
As an undergraduate, Betz majored in education, and his first job was as a high school history teacher and basketball coach in California. While studying for his MBA at PLU’s School of Business, Betz also served as a financial adviser.
In his new role at Monmouth, Betz will be charged with motivating and coaching Monmouth’s staff to help the college reach its enrollment goals. That staff will soon grow with the announcement of new hires.
“I’m excited about growing our Fall 2013 class and about working with an expanded staff,” said Betz. “It will be exciting to integrate them into our team and have them on the ground.”
Betz, who lives in Monmouth with his wife, Cassie, said he is also happy to “see the sun” on a more regular basis after living in the Pacific Northwest.
