Monmouth College assistant professor of history Fred Witzig will present a timely talk on the history of Thanksgiving on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Morgan Room of the college’s Poling Hall.
Titled “History of Thanksgiving Explained: Dispelling Myths about a Quintessentially American Holiday,” Witzig’s talk will be followed by the serving of pumpkin and cranberry-themed sweets.
Sponsored by the college’s history department, the talk is free and open to the public.
Witzig joined Monmouth’s faculty in 2009. He received his Ph.D. from Indiana University, where he also completed his master’s degree. His undergraduate degree is from California State University.
