Melissa Lindsay of Spokane, Wash., a May graduate of Monmouth College, is the 2010 recipient of the $1,500 “Reflection of You” award.

Established by MC alumna Jessica Mojden’ 06, the annual award is intended to jump-start the success of goal-oriented students who are willing to pursue fields in sales or business with high attrition levels that often require a substantial investment of personal capital. Applicants must also be strong in areas such as service, leadership, effort, work ethic, attitude and dependability.

Lindsay, who graduated magna cum laude with degrees in music and public relations, is interning in MC’s office of college communications this summer.

“I am honored to be the recipient of this award,” said Lindsay. “It means a lot to me because I have a strong interest in the field of marketing and sales, and I plan on working in this field for years to come.”

Mojden, who was also a public relations major at Monmouth, said she decided to fund the award after her own experiences of getting started in her successful sales career.

“It is my sincere hope that this award sparks an interest among other MC graduates – even other students – so that they understand that there are a myriad of ways to give back to Monmouth College,” said Mojden. “Hopefully, this creates other award ideas and people become more and more creative in their ways of giving to not only Monmouth College, but whatever else they are passionate about.”
