Singer-songwriter Chris Vallillo will be the featured guest in a Monmouth College classroom on March 31.
The artist will perform several Illinois folk songs for students in lecturer Kevin Roberts’ “Home Is Where the Heartland Is” course at 1 p.m. in the Barnes Electronic Classroom in Hewes Library. The event is free and open to the public.
Vallillo’s performances incorporate original and traditional material to form a musical portrait of the history and lifestyle of the Midwest. His “prairie poet” style has been compared to Edgar Lee Masters, and reviewers have described him as an exceptional guitarist “who speaks from the heart of rural Illinois.”
