Monmouth College will observe Women’s Awareness Month with three free events during the week of March 22.
Sheila Robinson, founder, publisher and CEO of Diversity Woman Media, will speak on “Women in the Work Place” on March 22 at 4:30 p.m. in the Whiteman-McMillan Highlander Room in the Stockdale Center. With more than 20 years of experience in corporate America, Robinson will discuss professional women and women of color in the workplace and take questions from the audience.
A flamenco dancing workshop and performance will be held on March 23. Chiara Mangiameli and her ensemble, "Idilio," will host the workshop at 3:30 p.m. in the Highlander Room and will perform at 7 p.m. in the Kasch Performance Hall of the Dahl Chapel and Auditorium. Based in Chicago, Mangiameli has studied flamenco singing and dance in Spain and has performed on national and international stages for the past 20 years.
Internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter Magdalen Hsu-Li will present a musical performance and lecture on March 26 at 8 p.m. in Scotland Yard in the Stockdale Center. Her presentation is titled “Smashing the Ceiling: Focus on GLBT Identity.”
"If you want to change the world, then you’ve gotta change yourself,” said Hsu-Li, a cultural activist who is "redefining the female musician.”
