The College’s eight fraternities and sororities gather at the beginning of last year's festivities. Greek Week 2017 is March 24-31.
Monmouth College’s Greek life organizations will celebrate their heritage while also helping out a good cause during this year’s Greek Week, to be held March 24-31.

The College’s eight fraternities and sororities will participate in activities to give back to their community while competing for the coveted Spirit Stick that is awarded at the end of the week to the chapter that has earned the most points.

“I’m super excited for Greek Week because we have such a great community here, and it’s a great time to bring everyone together with a little competition,” said Greek Week director Kelci Foss ’18 of Mount Morris, Ill. “We have a really unique theme this year and have a lot of creative members who we are sure will do great things.”

Proceeds from this year’s activities will go to two organizations: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; and ARay 36 Foundation, a foundation in the works to commemorate the late Fighting Scots student-athlete Austin Ray who died March 11 in a motorcycle crash.

Nonperishable goods from the canned foods castle-building contest will be donated to Monmouth’s Jamieson Community Center, and the Greeks will assist the Red Cross by hosting a blood drive.

Competitions will be based off of a theme based on the TV show Fear Factor with a 1990s twist. The events will kick off March 24 with a photo of the entire Greek student body and a BBQ dinner at the Pi Beta Phi house. They will continue until the banquet on March 31. A Penny Wars table will be set up in the Stockdale Center March 27-30.
