Monmouth College’s annual “Christmas at Monmouth” concert will be held Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kasch Performance Hall of the Dahl Chapel and Auditorium. Audience members are encouraged to arrive early to the free event, as seating is usually limited.

A popular local holiday tradition, “Christmas at Monmouth” intertwines narration and choral music to tell the story of the Nativity. Monmouth College vocal ensembles performing will include the Chorale and Chamber Choir, both directed by Tim Pahel, and the Concert Choir, directed by Pier Debes. Instrumental ensembles will include the Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Carolyn Suda, and the Monmouth Winds Brass Ensemble and Monmouth Winds Woodwind Quintet, both directed by Erin Alderson.

Music will range from classical to traditional seasonal selections and carols from around the world, in a wide variety of styles. Following tradition, the audience will participate in the singing of certain Christmas carols and hymns.

Readings, featuring the poetry of Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Maya Angelou, Ben Jonson and Samuel Taylor Coleridge, will be performed by the Rev. Dr. Teri Ott, the college’s chaplain, as well as by students.
