Eight students were recently initiated into Monmouth College’s chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the communication honor society.
Initiated were: Haley Mier of Buffalo Prairie; Alexandra Morgan of Monmouth; Kelly Murphy of Lemont; Kendra Newlon of Hampton; Sybille Rizzolli of Montan, Italy; Gabbi Schaerli of Gurnee; Haleigh Turner of Moline; and Jennifer Wheeler of Byron.
“Monmouth College proudly owns one of the oldest charters in Lambda Pi Eta,” said faculty adviser Lee McGaan. “We are Kappa Chapter – the 10th chapter in the nation.”
To become a member of Lambda Pi Eta, students must have: completed at least 60 semester hours in college; completed at least 12 semester hours of communication study; a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0; and a communication studies GPA of at least 3.25. They must also be in the upper 35 percent of their graduating class and be currently enrolled as students in good standing.
