Rebuilding Haiti

Barry McNamara
02/03/2011
Marjorie Bond, professor of mathematics and computer science at Monmouth College, will introduce the topic “Rebuilding Haiti” at the next Great Decisions program on Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Tartan Room of the college’s Stockdale Center.

The January 2010 earthquake that devastated Haiti struck a country already suffering from widespread poverty and underdevelopment. Did this natural disaster inadvertently provide an opportunity for reassessment and planning a new Haiti? Will the results of the 2010 presidential elections provide the leadership to restore the country?

Following Bond’s opening remarks, there will be approximately one hour of group discussion.

Great Decisions is a nationwide program sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association, a non-partisan, non-governmental association that works to increase Americans’ understanding of significant foreign policy issues.
