MC students to present research projects at local museum

Students in Monmouth College’s “Local Heroes” class will present their research projects on Dec. 17 from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Warren County History Museum, 238 S. Sunnylane, Monmouth.

The projects, which include stories about former Monmouth faculty members Richard “Doc” Kieft, Gracie Peterson and Stafford Weeks, as well as community members Bobby Dunlap, Dave Fleming and Nolan Kane, will be published on the Warren County Virtual Museum website (
Students will also share local history about the college’s Civil War cannon, the lives of female college students in the 19th century, cutlery collections at the museum, and more.
The “Local Heroes” course is part of the capstone Citizenship requirement for the college’s integrated studies program.
