Derik Nelson & Family to present season’s final Maple Leaf concert

MONMOUTH, Ill. – A “concert experience unlike any other” will close this season’s Maple Leaf Community Concert Series, hosted by Monmouth College.

Derik Nelson & Family will perform at 7 p.m. April 19 in the Kasch Performance Hall of the College’s Dahl Chapel and Auditorium.

The group’s signature sound features velvety three-part pop/folk vocal harmonies by siblings Derik, Riana and Dalten, who have been performing together since childhood. They’ve attracted more than 3.6 million views on YouTube, performed in nearly 100 U.S. cities, and reached more than 50,000 students of all ages with educational music workshops and fundraising assemblies.

Derik has appeared regularly as the lead guitarist on television’s Glee, among other shows.

In addition to Derik’s arrangements of cover songs from a variety of genres, styles and eras, his original music is very well received by all ages, with lyrical themes of home, family and the seasons of the Pacific Northwest.

“Undoubtedly, this was one of the best performances we have presented in our 25-plus years of concert seasons,” said one satisfied host. “We would recommend Derik Nelson & Family to all audiences, large or small, young or old.”

Tickets are $30 at the door. Students and Monmouth College personnel with an ID are admitted free. For more information, call the Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce at 309-734-3181 or email
