An exhibit of paintings by Chris Smith, gallery director at Linda Warren Projects in Chicago, will be on display through March 28 in Monmouth College’s Everett Gallery.
A reception and a talk are scheduled for March 1 in the gallery, which is located in Hewes Library. The reception will begin at 3 p.m., with the artist set to discuss his exhibit at 3:15 p.m. Smith will be on campus for two days, working with art students and presenting a lecture about the Chicago art market.
In 2009, Smith began working at Linda Warren Projects, which is located in the West Loop gallery district. He has been its director since 2011.
Smith completed his undergraduate work in operations management and information systems at Northern Illinois University before switching his focus to art. He received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago in 2006 and his MFA from Eastern Illinois University in 2009. At EIU, he graduated summa cum laude and received the Award of Excellence as one of the school’s distinguished graduate students.
The gallery is open Mondays through Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. ¬– midnight; Fridays, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sundays, noon – midnight.
